CIRKULUM is a project with a long-term vision with an imag­i­nary cor­ner­stone rep­re­sent­ed by CIRKULUM – an inter­na­tion­al fes­ti­val of new cir­cus and street the­atre, the very first fes­ti­val of its kind in Ostra­va that will be held from 7th–9th June, 2019, OSTRAVA

CIRKULUM fes­ti­val is the first inter­na­tion­al fes­ti­val of new cir­cus in the North­ern Moravia. The orig­i­nal con­cept of the fes­ti­val is so unique that there has nev­er been an equiv­a­lent to it nei­ther in Moravia or Sile­sia. It includes pre­sen­ta­tion and pop­u­lar­iza­tion of artis­tic gen­res such as new cir­cus, pan­tomime or street, phys­i­cal and impro­vi­sa­tion the­atre. The fes­ti­val will be held in the heart of Ostra­va – Poru­ba the mon­u­men­tal part of the city with a link to the local street art tra­di­tion from the pre­vi­ous cen­tu­ry. Most of the fes­ti­val pro­gram will be free of charge and its main goal is not only to revive the pub­lic space but also to moti­vate its inhab­i­tants to active­ly par­tic­i­pate in the area they live in.

The CIRKULUM fes­ti­val is orga­nized by Cirkus trochu jinak z.s. – an artis­tic com­pa­ny will take the oppor­tu­ni­ty to cel­e­brate enter­ing its sec­ond decade of oper­a­tion at the open­ing of the festival.

The main cre­ative goal of the CIRKULUM fes­ti­val is to change Hlavní tří­da street into a boule­vard La Ram­bla in Barcelona that is con­sid­ered to be one of the best places for inter­na­tion­al street art. The fes­ti­val site stretch­es out from the top of Hlavní tří­da street from a round­about where a main out­door stage and an inter­ac­tive ČEZ FUN PARK will be sit­u­at­ed up to VŠB-TU Ostra­va (Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­si­ty of Ostra­va) Assem­bly Hall where you will be able to find the main fes­ti­val stage.

The CIRKULUM fes­ti­val is orga­nized by Cirkus trochu jinak com­pa­ny, in close coop­er­a­tion with CTJ Art Pro­duc­tion and the city dis­trict of Ostra­va — Poru­ba. A sig­nif­i­cant finan­cial sup­port comes from the Mora­vian Sile­sian region,  the Statu­to­ry City of Ostra­va, the Min­istry of Cul­ture of the Czech Repub­lic, the State Cul­ture Fund of the Czech Repub­lic and the ČEZ foun­da­tion.
